All For One and oneforone

Samuel and Jennifer, both in and out of their guise of Coffee+Sponge, will be exhibiting new work in oneforone which opens on 7 April.

oneforone is the first exhibition for a group of 18 artists engaged in a discourse on change and transition - the need for the artist to adapt to change; the transition of one artist’s inspiration into a work by another.
Showing simultaneously in two unique venues, Stour Space and View Tube, oneforone will feature audio installation, drawings, paintings, photography, sculpture, performances, installation pieces and events.
In the battle of change, oneforone proves the artist’s greatest weapons are resourcefulness, versatility and urgency.

The Devil Is In The Details - SHARPEN MY PENCIL Sunday life drawing salon

Sunday, 23 January 3-5pm

As they say, the devil is in the details. So why do we avoid certain challenges when drawing the body? For Coffee+Sponge's third SHARPEN MY PENCIL of 2011, we go in for the close-up on hands, feet and toes, knees, napes and knuckles.

ALTERATION & REPAIRS - Sharpen My Pencil guest curated by Kyla Harris

Sunday, 16 January 3-5pm

Inspired by the dance works of Marie Chouinard and Erwin Wurm's one-minute sculptures, Coffee+Sponge and guest artist Kyla Harris present ALTERATIONS & REPAIRS as an exploration into what happens when we are forced to relinquish our normal body functions and explore alternative vocabularies of movement.

Visual artist Samuel Overington and theatre artist Jennifer Farmer team together as Coffee+Sponge to offer SHARPEN MY PENCIL, theatrical, character-based life drawing salons which will explode the preconceptions of sex, gender, disability, race and sexuality. £8 drop in or £56 if booking 8 sessions (£28 for 4). Fee includes an art pack of paper, charcoal and board as well as tea, coffee and yes, cake.

SHARPEN MY PENCIL presents Film Noir

BUT OFFICER, I'M INNOCENT – Coffee+Sponge present Film Noir

Yes he's my husband. Yes a bullet was put straight through his heart. Yes I was holding the gun. But that doesn't mean I killed him.

If adulterous dalliances, double-crosses and dubious morals are your bag, then join Coffee+Sponge for our first SHARPEN MY PENCIL of 2011 as we delve into Film Noir.
